Assignment 24
There is an opportunity for students to be able to buy coffee at the library or coffee shop and still be eco friendly and hydrated. My belief is that there is a way students can purchase coffee and/or water, without having to bring their own cup, and still be eco friendly. The unmet need is the need for water and coffee while not discarding plastic waste to landfill and not having to carry around a cup all day. This need only exists if the consumer cares about their environmental impact. Ideally, The typical concert either brings their own card for a while and then buy a plastic coffee cup only goes in buys a plastic coffee cups. It is very uncommon for students to carry around 2 cups one for water or one for coffee and it is also uncommon for students to only drink coffee without water. I think they like to meet with their friends at a coffee place and catch up on life. I think they like to chill, and relax and have a pick me up coffee during the day. The car they tend to drive is more on the expensive side, I would say probably at least a Honda. Usually probably a Mercedes. I think they would have either a white or black car mostly black. I think they watch shows like friends and The office. I think most of them also watch the bachelor/bachelorette. I don’t think that most of these customers have children yet, I think they are more in their teens and young adulthood. I don’t think many of them are adopted either I think most of them are probably an only child or come from a wealthy your family. I think their favorite books would include writers like John Green. More of the customers that would come in would be on the younger side however the customers on the older side would feel as if they were still young. I think what I have in common with this customer avatar would be the car that I drive, that shows that I like and the hobbies that I like. I think a lot of people addicted to coffee and actually go out and buy coffee or the younger generations.
The product/service is having a choice of getting you preferred drink in a reusable cup that you can return once you are done using the cup. There is an incentive of giving the cup back, like getting a dollar off coupon or something the company can agree on. believe that we should all be taking actions to be environmentally friendly and we should all care about it. I see this business playing a role in my daily life because this was a problem I had for many years. I am offering a system where you can go to Starbucks, Dunkin etc. and when you came and ordered, you had the option to use one of the reusable cups, or a plastic cup (to go), and after your study session or coffee date, you could return the cup and be guilt free. I am offering this system to people who buy coffee or products from coffee places and stay for a while, more specifically students who study at the library or businesses who have meetings at coffee shops.
The customers care because they care about 1. Their coffee and 2. The environment and don’t mind having a nicer, reusable cup instead of a plastic one. What sets me apart from everyone else is that there is currently no opportunity to use a reusable cup at any place unless you bring it yourself which is too inconvenient for a lot of people which is why they don’t do it.
Some reasons I think customers would want to switch to this new product is because of the environmental aspect. I think that that is the main reason people will be switching to my product. The second reason would be convenience. I think it would be hard at first to get customers to switch just because it is a routine practice in their daily lives, however once some people start, it will spread. I don’t believe that I have too many competitors that offer the convenience that I do. There is currently no opportunity to use a reusable cup at any place unless you bring it yourself which is too inconvenient for a lot of people which is why they don’t do it. This business has target customers, however it also targets a lot of people who didn’t even have the need in the first place. Most people will choose an environmentally friendly option if it is convenient enough for them. The only thing that I’m unsure about is the incentive on how to return the cups, and how to “sell” this to customers instead of a business. I think that for my business, the incentive and the location plays the biggest part in the success for the company.
