Assignment 9
Interview One: I interviewed one of my roommates Adazae. Adazae shares a lot in common with the others in my opportunity because she is an avid coffee drinker and drinks it at least once a day. She falls outside the boundary because although she is a coffee drinker, she usually makes her coffee at home and doesn't really feel the need to buy coffee from a coffee shop ever. I think the desire here is having a cup to take the coffee with her when she's running late.
Interview Two: I interviewed one of my friends Gia. Gia does enjoy coffee and drinks coffee at least once a day. She falls outside the boundary because although she is a coffee drinker, she drinks it as a "treat" drink at the end of the day. She usually makes her coffee at home and doesn't really feel the need to buy coffee from a coffee shop because she makes herself decaf and really only drinks it for the taste. I think the desire here is to have some type of incentive to want to buy the coffee and use the reusable cup. The underlying cause is definitely different than the cause of my opportunity because she doesn't have the problem of walking around with two cups because she makes the coffee at home.
Interview Three: I interviewed one of my sorority sisters Caroline. Caroline shares a lot in common with the others in my opportunity because she really loves coffee and drinks it daily however when she does drink coffee, she gets it from the sorority house. She doesn't ever go to Starbucks or any coffee shop and buy it because at the sorority house it's free. I think the desire here is to have some type of incentive to want to buy the coffee and use the reusable cup. I think the cause of this need is different but could be the same because there is still a need for a reusable cup.
Interview Four: I interviewed one of my friends Alyssa. Alyssa again is a coffee lover and drinks it every single morning however she makes it herself. She rarely goes to buy coffee but whens she does, it's on her way somewhere and she does not want to bring the cup around everywhere. I think the desire here is to have some type of incentive to want to buy the coffee and use the reusable cup. I think the cause of this need is to want to buy the coffee in the first place.
Interview Five: I interviewed one of my neighbors Karissa. Karissa loves coffee and drinks it daily, she makes her own coffee however wants to go out and get coffee daily but she doesn't have a car. When she goes to campus she buys coffee sometimes but she doesn't have the convenience of going to get coffee if she would if she had a car. I think the desire here is to have some type of incentive to want to buy the coffee and use the reusable cup. In this situation I think the need is to have the accessibility to walk around with the coffee cup so it could be more convenient.
In these interviews I discovered that yes the need is from people who drink coffee, however not all coffee drinkers. People who make coffee themselves wont have this need and people who do not stay at coffee shops or at the library will not have this need. Additionally people who do not care about the environment or their waste will not have this need. However I have found that with the increasing trend of climate change, that the want/need for being environmentally friendly is steadily increasing.
