Assignment 6
1. Turning ocean water into fresh water easily and in large amounts. I found this opportunity also from my environmental science textbook. We have two major problems we are facing right now. One being running out of fresh drinking water, and the second being rising sea levels. I think that something that could combat both would be absolutely perfect. I think that the consumer here should be the people living in poorer countries who don't have access to clean water. I think that this opportunity will be easy to exploit because water is a necessity and people who don't have access to clean drinking water are in dire need of a way to get it and this can solve two problems at once. I see this opportunity because I am learning about these problems however they are way more important and urgent than anyone seems to be taking them.
2. Plant based medicine. I found this opportunity from my plants, health, and spirituality class. In that class we read about the powerful benefits of plants, and how most medicines used today are actually derived from plants anyways. However they are then treated and modified with chemicals and then those chemicals cause other symptoms which cause the consumer to buy other medicine. I think that this opportunity exists because with the increasingly available information on the internet, consumers are starting to do more research and become more skeptical of the consumerism aspect of their lives. I think the consumer with the opportunity is probably millennials, anyone older than them is stuck in their way and not willing to change their habits however the generations that grew up with technology and beginning to realize how "BS" most stuff on the market is. I think that the opportunity could be either, I'm really not sure because it could go very well or very bad. I think if it's approached in the right way it could be easier to exploit. I honestly see this opportunity because I have been reading the facts, and just read about how the medicine Zantac actually causes cancer, I think that the government purposefully makes medications have symptoms so that the consumer needs to buy something else.
3. Healthier alternatives or incentives to stop vaping. I found this opportunity just by watching the news. Its everywhere, dozens being hospitalized because of the harmful chemicals found in vapes. I think that this opportunity exists because vapes are highly addictive and created an addiction in a generation that wasn't suspected to have a nicotine addiction before these came about. The customer with the opportunity is definitely Millennials or younger, because with the internet, younger and younger kids have access and are getting exposed to these "trends" and information. This opportunity I think is easy to exploit because now its apparent across the nation that it is indeed a very serious problem, however the solution may be the hardest part. I saw this opportunity for a while now. It started when Juuls first became a thing and it seemed like almost everyone had one and continued to have one. As time went by kids increasingly became more addicted and had to go out of their way to hit it.
4. Solar power energy storer. I found this opportunity from reading my environmental science textbook. I think that renewable energy is going to be a prominent daily use in the near future and I think that with the right idea, it can quickly be spread around the world. I think that this opportunity exists, or might have to exist because of our depletion of fossil fuels. We are going to need sustainable solutions and fast to have the energy we need and it makes sense that we take the unlimited energy from the sun. I think the customer with the opportunity could be people in poorer nations, because one obtained the energy storer, the energy is completely free. I think that this could be relatively easy once technology is created to drive the cost down a little. I saw this opportunity when reading about how we need to create alternative energy power sources and I think the one unlimited energy source that we get for free should be used to our advantage.
